These Chocolate Covered Oreos are chocolate sandwich cookies that are dipped in melted chocolate and covered with whatever toppings you desire! Sprinkles, white chocolate, mini chocolate chips, graham cracker crumbs, or even oreo cookie crumbs! Best yet, mine are gluten free, nut free, eggless and can easily be vegan!
Place the 12 ounces of chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Heat in 10 second increments, stirring after each time, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper so that the wet cookies will be easy to remove when dry.
Using a fork, dip the 18 "Oreos", one at a time, into the melted chocolate, completely. Scrape off the bottom of the cookie on the side of the bowl if need be and then place the cookies onto the baking sheet lined with wax paper.
While the chocolate on the cookie is wet, scatter on some of your 1 tablespoon of toppings so they stick. Work quickly because the chocolate on the "Oreos" does solidify rather quickly.
After decorating, let the cookies sit untouched on the baking sheet for about 20 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
