How to Make Chocolate Covered Oreos
Here are the step by step instructions on how to make chocolate covered oreos!
Step 1: Melt the Chocolate Chips
Place the 12 ounces (one bag) of chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl.
Heat in 10 second increments, stirring after each time, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
Step 2: Line Your Baking Sheet
Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper so that the wet cookies will be easy to remove when dry.
Step 3: Dip the Cookies
Using a fork, dip the "Oreos" into the melted chocolate, completely, scrape off the bottom of the cookie on the side of the bowl if need be and then place the cookies onto the baking sheet lined with wax paper.
Step 4: Add Your Toppings
While the chocolate on the cookie is wet, scatter on some of your toppings so they stick.
Work quickly because the chocolate on the "Oreos" does solidify rather quickly.
Step 5: Rest
Once decorated, let the cookies sit untouched on the baking sheet for about 20 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
Expert Baking Tips
- Use Wax Paper- Place your cookies down on parchment paper or wax paper after submerging them in melted chocolate. Make sure to use something otherwise they will stick to your baking sheet.
- Melt the Chocolate Slowly- Make sure to melt the chocolate chips in a heat safe bowl in the microwave in 10 second increments, stirring after each time. I know it takes way longer this way but if you put the chips in for 30 seconds, the chocolate will seize up and not be a liquid.

Yes! Just make sure the chocolate has hardened before you store them.
Make sure the cookies have completely hardened before placing them in treat bags.
I like to get a cute decorative paper cupcake holder and place 3-4 cookies inside there. Then I place the cupcake holder, with the cookies, in a food safe cellophane treat bag, seal it with a twist tie and then add a ribbon and bow.
