These homemade Peanut Free Vegan "Peanut Butter" Cups are a delicious allergy friendly candy that's so simple to make! With just 3 ingredients, they take minutes to make and are perfect for the holidays and parties! They're better than the ones at the chocolate shop and these are gluten free, nut free, egg free and dairy free (vegan)!

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were one of my favorites candies growing up so I knew I had to make these Peanut Free Vegan "Peanut Butter" Cups! Finding chocolate candy that’s safe for both my kids has been a big challenge. Some are gluten free but not nut safe and others are nut free but made in a facility that process wheat. So, I decided to make my own and let me tell you...these are so delicious and safe for my family! They would even be perfect on my Peanut Free "Peanut Butter" Cake and on my Peanut Free Chocolate "Peanut Butter" Cake.

Ingredient Notes

- Chocolate Chips- To make vegan, make sure to use gluten free/vegan chocolate chips. I love these allergy friendly chocolate chips.
- Wow Butter- For those of you that don’t know, Wow Butter is a nut free butter spread that is made in a gluten free, tree nut free, peanut free, egg free and dairy free facility (it's vegan). It also contains no seeds and is made of soy. It is perfect for my household since my kids have issues with all those items aside from dairy (finally) and soy. I am lucky enough to have this product in my local grocery store, but you can also buy Wow Butter on amazon.
- Confectioners' Sugar- Mixed with the wow butter to create a super creamy filling.

How to Make Peanut Free Vegan "Peanut Butter" Cups
Here are the step by step instructions to make these homemade chocolate candies!

Step 1: Melt the Chocolate
Place the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Heat in 15 second increments until melted and smooth.
Then line a mini cupcake tin with liners (about 6-8 liners).

Step 2: Add the Melted Chocolate to the Muffin Tin
Spread about 1 tablespoon melted chocolate on the bottom of each cupcake liner.
It should fill the tin about ⅓ of the way up.

Step 3: Mix the Other Ingredients and Add to the Tin
In another bowl, mix together the wow butter and the powdered sugar until combined.
You can microwave this combo for 10 seconds or less so it's a little easier to work with.
Next, add about 1 tablespoon of the wow butter mixture on top of the chocolate layer.

Step 4: Top with Chocolate
Cover the wow butter with more melted chocolate until you reach the top of the muffin liner and smooth out the top.

Step 5: Chill
Refrigerate for at least an hour or until chocolate has hardened.
Make sure to leave out at room temperature for a while before consuming or the chocolate will be rock hard.
EXPERT TIPS
- Use Muffin Liners- This way the chocolates won't get stuck to the mini muffin tin. Without them, you'll never be able to get the chocolates out.
- Melt the Chocolate Slowly- Make sure to melt the chocolate chips in a heat safe bowl in the microwave in 15 second increments, stirring after each time. I know it takes way longer this way but if you put the chips in for 30 seconds, the chocolate will seize up and not be a liquid.
- Microwave the Wow Butter and Sugar- If the mixture is not coming together, microwave the combo for 5-10 seconds so it is easier to mix together.
- Chill the Candies- The candies must chill for an hour so all the layers solidify. Leave them out for a bit before consuming or you may crack a tooth.
